Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series
Jackson Hise steps up to Super Late Models; Commits to HTFSDS in 2024
For Jackson Hise, the time is now. The 16-year-old Super Late Model rookie has decided to move up from the Crate Late Model ranks in 2024 and toss his hat in the ring as a challenger on the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series. Hise, of Ocala, Fla., finished fourth while touring with the Rogers Dabbs Chevrolet Crate Racin’ USA Series a year ago. The experience Hise had on the road has him eager to try his hand with the Hunt the Front tour.
As Hise prepared for World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series action during the fifth annual Sunshine Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla., he admitted that experience was exactly was he needed most. He hopes to gain that during a Georgia-Florida Speedweeks stint as he planned to compete at Volusia, Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Ga., and All-Tech Raceway in Ellisville, Fla. If Hise is comfortable anywhere, it should be All-Tech, where he was the 2020 602 Crate Late Model champion.
Part of the learning curve for the young driver is simply learning the mechanics of the car, like how adjustments effect handling, and transferring information he feels in the car — a Black Diamond Race Car with powerplants from Custom Race Engines and Clements Racing Engines — to his crew, which gets help from fellow Floridian Jason Fitzgerald.
While leaning on Middleburg’s Fitzgerald for help, Hise hopes he can also lean on his experience as a former state and national karting champion as well, along with the time he spent chasing the Crate Racin’ USA circuit last season. He will enter the ’24 Hunt the Front season with five career victories behind the wheel of a Late Model and just two career starts in Hunt the Front competition. He finished 14th and 19th in a pair of October Hunt the Front events at Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway.
